Each year in October, Guardian partners with Faulkner University for the Faulkner Ball Drop Event. On Saturday, October 21, the Faulkner Eagles took on Georgetown College. Prior to the end of the game, a helicopter was loaded up with over 1,000 mini foam footballs, all of which were marked with either $1 or $5. Students were encouraged to catch as many balls as possible, and then cash in those footballs for money. After the game, the field was cleared, and the entire student section sprawled out to try and grab as many footballs as they could.
At Guardian, we strive to support our communities, including our higher education institutions, throughout the year with sponsorships and charitable donations. Another goal we have is to create great experiences throughout our communities and cultivate meaningful partnerships in the process. Each year students and faculty look forward to this fun and lighthearted ball drop event. While the average student walks away with around $10, it is less about the money, and more about the excitement and fun had during the scramble to collect as many as possible.
In addition to the ball drop, our team members organized a family tailgate with games, prizes, candy, and giveaways! Attendees also had the opportunity to guess the final score of the game, with one lucky winner claiming a $100 Visa gift card for the closest guess. Our team is already looking forward to next year and hope that if you are a Faulkner student, we will see you there!
